Advice from my parents
The is a personal project that I set myself. Throughout my life I have kept a note of any advice my parents have given me. I decided to turn this into a project which showcases some of the advice and wanted it to appear unlike other work I have produced before. The book would feature work that is more 'hands on' with less structure.
I began by researching ransom notes, and how this idea was taken into the rock/ punk era through album covers, particularly in the Sex Pistols album designs. This lead me to cutting up and tearing apart magazines and newspapers and putting my own letters together to scan into Photoshop. I paired this with illustrations, photos and textured paper to complete the book. This is a very personal project and I really enjoyed developing a new style while creating a project unlike my previous work.
